Privacy Policy and Disclaimer

Last updated: 30 October 2026

AlevelApi (www.alevelapi.com) is a free library of Sri Lankan G.C.E. A/L past papers, marking schemes and syllabuses. This policy explains what information the website collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed. The AlevelApi Android app has its own app privacy policy. The disclaimer further down covers where our papers come from and what we can promise about them.

Privacy

You don't need an account

You can browse, search, read and download everything on this website without signing up. We only ask for contact details if you choose to request a paper or report a problem with one.

Paper requests and problem reports

When you send the request form, we store:

  • your email address
  • your phone number, only if you give one
  • the paper you asked about (subject, year, type and medium) and any note you add

We use your email and phone number only to contact you about that request or report. They are seen only by the AlevelApi team, are never shown on the website, and are never sold or shared.

How long we keep them: your email and phone number are erased 90 days after your request is fulfilled or closed. We keep the request itself, without any contact details, so we know which papers students need. Our backups may hold a copy for up to 30 more days before it is gone everywhere.

Ads (Google AdSense)

The website is free because it shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, which may be personalised based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn personalised ads off in Google's ad settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how the website is used: which pages are visited, what people search for on the site, which files are downloaded, and general information such as device type, browser and approximate location. It uses cookies. We never send your name, email or phone number to Google Analytics. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

New paper notifications

If you allow notifications, your browser gives us a notification token, which we store so we can tell you when new papers are added. It is not linked to your name or email. Notifications are delivered by Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging). To stop them, turn off notifications for www.alevelapi.com in your browser settings. The token then stops working, and we delete it the next time we send a notification.

Stored on your device

The website remembers a few choices in your browser, such as light or dark theme and whether you have answered the notification prompt. These stay on your device and are not sent to us.

Hosting and security

The website and its files are served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes your IP address to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse. All connections use HTTPS.

Students under 18

Many of our visitors are school students, and many are under 18. Nothing on this website requires you to give personal information. The request form is optional, and if you are under 18 you or a parent can ask us at any time to remove anything you sent.

Your rights

Under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To have your request details deleted before the 90 days are up, email [email protected] from the address you used, or say which address it was.

Disclaimer

For personal, educational use

Everything on AlevelApi is provided free for students and teachers to study and prepare for exams. You may read, download and print it for your own learning or for teaching. Please don't sell it, or republish it as your own.

Always free: we never sell printed copies

Every document on AlevelApi is free to download, and we never sell printed copies. Students are welcome to print papers themselves for their own study. If anyone sells you a printed copy of a paper from this website, it does not come from AlevelApi, and we are not responsible for that printed copy, its price, its quality or whether anything in it has been changed. You can always download the same file here for free.

Where the papers come from

Past papers, marking schemes and syllabuses are collected from public sources, such as the Department of Examinations, the National Institute of Education, government websites and newspapers, and from scans people share with us. We organise them by subject, year and medium, and the files we prepare carry the AlevelApi name, a watermark and a link back to the site.

Copyright

Copyright in the papers, marking schemes and syllabuses belongs to their original owners, not to AlevelApi. If you own something published here and want it credited differently or removed, email [email protected] with the page address, and we will act on it promptly.

Not an official website

AlevelApi is independently run. It is not part of, or affiliated with, the Department of Examinations, the Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Education or any other official examination body. For anything official, such as exam timetables, syllabus changes, results, Z-scores or university cut-off marks, check the official source.

Accuracy

We work to keep everything correct and complete, but we can't promise it is. A scan may be missing a page, a paper may be outdated by a syllabus change, a marking scheme may differ from the one examiners finally used, or a file may have been altered before it reached us. Everything is provided "as is", without any guarantee, and we are not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on it. If you find a mistake, please tell us using the request form or by email.

Ads and links to other websites

Ads are chosen and shown by Google, not by us, and links may take you to other websites. We don't control either, and we aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle information, or anything in the disclaimer, we will update this page and the date at the top.
